I’m on my way, driving at 90 down those country lanes
Singing to Tiny Dancer, And I miss the way you make me feel, and it’s real
….And I’m on my way, and I still remember those country lanes
When we did not know the answers, And I miss the way you make me feel, it’s real

Elton John – Tiny Dancer
Elton John in 1971.

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you’ll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she’s in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand
….Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

One week in we let the story begin
We’re going out on our first date
You and me are thrifty
So go all you can eat
Fill up your bag and I fill up a plate
We talk for hours and hours about the sweet and the sour
And how your family’s doing ok
leave and get in a taxi, then kiss in the backseat
Tell the driver make the radio play
and I’m singing like
….Every day discovering something brand new
I’m in love with the shape of you

    From the new album ÷

I was born inside a small town, I lost that state of mind
Learned to sing inside the lord’s house
But stopped at the age of nine
I forget when I get awards now, the wave I had to ride
The paving stones I played upon, that kept me on the grind
So blame it on the pain that blessed me with the life
Friends and family filled with envy, when they should be filled with pride
And when the world’s against me, is when I really come alive
And every day that Satan tempts me, I try to take it in my stride

And all the ones that love me, they just left me on the shelf, no farewell
So before I save someone else, I’ve got to save myself
I gave you all my energy and I took away your pain
Cause human beings are destined to radiate or drain

The clamour is growing for a Dunedin concert by pop star Ed Sheeran, as he hints at a return to New Zealand. Speculation has been mounting since the English singer-songwriter and Grammy Award-winning artist posted an image of the cover of his new album, Divide, on social media this week. The cover includes the division symbol, but had been modified to feature a kiwi and a kangaroo inside the dots, along with a caption by the artist saying “news soon x”. The teaser prompted a wave of speculation online as more than 23,000 fans commented, including many pleading with the star to confirm a visit to New Zealand. Boooo. It weirdly appears that Sheeran’s team have not done their homework on the deplorable acoustics at the Fubar dead hulk.

Live and learn Ed. What a mistake.

People, if you can fly to Auckland, hear him at Mt Smart. You won’t regret it.

Ed will be huge. Dunedin is set for a massive March next year following confirmation on Tuesday British pop superstar Ed Sheeran will perform at Forsyth Barr Stadium on March 29. ODT: Scalpers look for a cut
    By Timothy Brown
Tickets to Ed Sheeran’s Dunedin concert are yet to go on sale to the general public, but scalpers have already swooped to take advantage of punters. Pre-sale tickets to the show were sold out in about 20 minutes yesterday. But almost immediately they began to appear online at highly inflated prices. Winners and losers as fans chase tickets. Tickets valued at $69 in the pre-sale were being offered for more than five times that price.
A pair of tickets bought for $159 each were being on-sold together at $1403. Promoter Brent Eccles, of Frontier Touring, hit out at the scalpers. “If there was any chance in the world not to honour them we wouldn’t,” he said. “We don’t like it. The artists don’t like it. It’s not right. It’s a pretty poor practice.” Cont/

I like Dave Cannan’s suggestion of Joseph Balfe as supporting artist. He’s outstanding, totally OTT outstandingly excellent. Could include more superlatives, decided advice is better: “Check him for yourselves on youtube”.

What is Operation Temperer? (via Manchester Evening News)
It is the first time that Operation Temperer, which was first revealed in 2015, has been put into effect. The plan is believed to allow up to 5,000 troops to be deployed in support of the police. But military assets have been used to protect against the terrorist threat before, including in February 2003 when troops were drafted in to Heathrow, with armoured vehicles patrolling amid fears that extremists could be on the loose with a surface-to-air missile launcher.
