    Is this the real life?
    Is this just fantasy?
    Caught in a landslide
    No escape from reality
    Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I’m easy come, easy go
    A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me, to me

    Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he’s dead
    Mama, life had just begun
But now I’ve gone and thrown it all away
    Mama, ooo
Didn’t mean to make you cry
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
    Sends shivers down my spine
    Body’s aching all the time
Goodbye everybody I’ve got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo (anyway the wind blows)
    I don’t want to die
I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me
    Gallileo, Gallileo,
    Gallileo, Gallileo,
    Gallileo Figaro – magnifico

But I’m just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He’s just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go will you let me go
Bismillah! No we will not let you go – let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go – let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go let me go
Will not let you go let me go (never)
Never let you go let me go
    Never let me go ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
    For me
    For me

So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby can’t do this to me baby
Just gotta get out just gotta get right outta here

    Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
    Nothing really matters
    Anyone can see
Nothing really matters nothing really matters to me

    Anyway the wind blows

As adapted to the musical score composed by Franz Schubert

        Ave Maria Gratia plena
        Maria Gratia plena
        Maria Gratia plena
        Ave, ave dominus
        Dominus tecum

        Benedicta tu in mulieribus
        Et benedictus
        Et benedictus fructus ventris
        Ventris tui Jesus

        Ave Maria
        Ave Maria Mater dei
        Ora pro nobis pecatoribus
        Ora, ora pro nobis
        Ora ora pro nobis pecatoribus

        Nunc et in hora mortis
        In hora mortis, mortis nostrae
        In hora mortis nostrae
        Ave Maria

        The Latin:
Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
        Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
        Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
        ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc,
        et in hora mortis nostrae.

        The English translation:
        Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
        blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
        Holy Mary, Mother of God,
        pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.

The Ave Maria is one of the oldest and most popular Catholic prayers, and is perhaps the most popular of all the Marian prayers, that is, prayers to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Also called the Ave, the Hail Mary, and the Angelic Salutation, the prayer is often used in private as well as in public devotions, for example, in the rosary. The Ave Maria (Hail Mary) is of unknown origin; it was not officially incorporated into the liturgy (as part of the Rosary) until the 15th Century. It is composed of two distinct parts, a Scriptural part and an intercessory part. Link

    troopers ALL :D : D : D : D ! ! ! !

[Diane, and ALL – I read: The motif of “La Paloma” (the dove) can be traced back to an episode that occurred in 492 BC, before Darius’ invasion of Greece, a time when the white dove had not yet been seen in Europe. The Persian fleet under Mardonius was caught in a storm off the shore of Mount Athos and wrecked, when the Greeks observed white doves escaping from the sinking Persian ships. This inspired the notion that such birds bring home a final message of love from a sailor who is lost at sea. This theme that a final link of love overcomes death and separation is reflected in “La Paloma”. While the lyrics may not always be true to the original, the soul of the song seems to survive all attempts to recast it in whatever new form and shape there may be and is able to express the tension between separation with loneliness, even death, and love.

Yes, Elizabeth, I know the story. Beautiful. A bit of Christmas cheer as a break from often dreary and/or tedious politics. If I want to track down the best singers, I look for the best songs because the best singers will always have a crack at them. And the best songs are very often based on persistent memes. Here’s another, from an obscure song writer but somehow the song caught on and has never been forgotten. Beautiful execution too. I could spend/waste so much time on this ….Does anyone on this site know the great Russian baritone, Dmitri [Hvorostovsky]? If so, please post one thing nice from him. I wouldn’t know where to stop.

H surname supplied. Yes ongoing linkages across human form and emotion, all that DNA coursing through the veins —and the environmental !!

“Bésame Mucho” (Kiss me generously) is a song written in 1940 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez. It is one of the most famous boleros, and was recognized in 1999 as the most sung and recorded Mexican song in the world. According to Velázquez herself, she wrote this song even though she had never been kissed yet at the time and kissing, as she heard, was considered a sin.

In Brazil in 1990, an affair between the Minister of Economics Zélia Cardoso de Mello and the minister of Justice pt:Bernardo Cabral was revealed when the two danced cheek to cheek to “Bésame Mucho”. A few days later, the presidential band was to introduce Cardoso de Mello with a military march. Instead, the director of the band had them play “Bésame Mucho.” He was placed under house arrest for 3 days for insubordination.

Last one! Must drag myself away and back to work – but this one is good for a laugh too – great acting on the part of both singers.

When will you drag us all back to politics, Elizabeth? In the meantime, perhaps you will allow “Women who kill’.
