Subject: Fwd: Invitation to discuss the Spatial Plan
The meeting with the Taieri Community Facilities Trust to discus (sic) the Spatial Plan ands it’s (sic) potential impact of the proposed Aquatic Centre on the (sic) Tuesday the 17th is to be rescheduled and broadened.
After extremely useful discussions with Mayor Dave Cull we have agreed to reschedule and expend (sic) the scope of the meeting.
Dave, and I agree, felt a wider and fuller discussion about the proposal would assist everyone. To that end Dave will ask Staff to prepare a presentation on all the areas that need to be discussed and considered.
I am delighted at the prospect of a wider discussion. The benefits of Council and the Community talking to each over major initiatives can’t be overstated and continues the immensely valuable relationship the Trust has established with both Councillors and Staff.
The proposed date will be sometime in early March.
Regards
Michael Stedman
Chair [Taieri Community Facilities Trust]

That makes me boak. Tail wagging the dog.
I wondered why the Bath St bin was empty. Someone beat me to it.
Bin raiding, like dumpster diving gets competitive – What if? has new agents this year that frankly, leave no stone unturned thus far. 2015 will be full of interesting turf wars.
Looks like Frankenstein’s seriously coming to life here, dunnit? Why waste so much time on a single unfunded item in the long term plan? A wider (secret) discussion? One suspects that it will emerge from this funded, immediate, a different item and most certainly in a different place.
“Useful” discussions with Dave. Read, “I will give it my full backing Michael, after all, what’s a Mayor for but to assist his friends achieve their ends. Of course there would have to be some assurances of votes when the time comes.” “What’s that you say? The money? Not a problem, we can borrow it as a bridging facility while your friends on the ‘Plain’ raise it. Just like we did for the Private Funding promised for the Stadium. Yes, you’re right that didn’t in fact eventuate but the city managed to cover up from the citizens the full effects of that. Can we do that again? Of course we can. It just means hoodwinking a few of the councillors, but with the exception of that pesky Vandervis man, I can manipulate them without too much trouble. Do I think you will get your new aquatic centre for Mosgiel? Absolutely Michael, I give you my word, and everyone knows the value of that.”
Overheard on my way back from the peninsula at 11.30pm last night.
Dave why are you organizing this meeting for Michael about the pools.
Kate I said I was organizing a meeting for the fools not about the bloody pools.
Taieri Aquatic Centre (proposed)
