    Not a sausage, and I was awake and all. What did it feel like, a roller or a sharp shake or what?

      Building creaked loudly followed by sharp jolt (all lasting 3 seconds) immediately followed by light tremor (lasting 2 seconds). China cabinet contents rocked, no other visible movement in my lounge as I watched a recording of The Good Wife on TV. This is a late 1930s URM apartment building, two-storeyed with basement, constructed in brick, with existing earthquake cracking made more obvious by the February 2011 Christchurch quake. If we get a big one here, I’m either dead or maimed ;)
