City’s mentality praised
By David Loughrey
The Dunedin City Council and the Otago Regional Council should get together to underwrite air services to Dunedin, an aviation expert says. Former University of Otago air transport research director Dr David Duval said Otago Air was a great Dunedin idea, but not one anybody should go ahead with.

Notice how Stuart McLauchlan tries to distance himself from the stadium: “I have never been involved in the stadium,” Stuart says. He was a director of the now sacked DCHL which was supposed to provide dividends to help pay the stadium debt. Not once did Stuart McLauchlan nor any of the other sacked directors do their duty and speak out that DCHL could not afford to pay the dividends.
McLauchlan also tries to sidestep the decision of the University to sponsor The Highlanders when it was Stuart McLauchlan, John Ward and Haylene Haynes who endorsed the decision, announced to the media then presented the proposal to the full University Council.
A little bit of honesty please McLauchlan!

Stuart Mclauchan was a Director of USC Investments, which received a $4 million payment for land purchases prior to the stadium construction.

That’s like TOTALLY UNCONNECTED, I’ll have you know, Anonymous.
Money in the millions does not count ~!!~!

Anyway, that was mainly the ‘Earl Hagamans’, his good friends (and co-investors).
      NOT CONNECTED ~!!~!

  3. Not connected??? Jeez! he’s only got from the neck bone to the back bone and is about to get to the thigh bone. He’s got a lot more to connect before he gets to the toe bone, when ‘dem dem bones gonna walk away ‘ from any fear of the Lord! Ohhh Yeaahhh!

To be fair to Stuart he obviously feels quite safe in saying he had nothing to do with the stadium; who will hold him to account for this ‘massaging of the truth’, the ODT? Please. Cull? Never going to happen, in the way too hard basket for him, the councillors? Same. Certainly some councillors are sitting around that council table and know they are responsible for the stadium but have kept very quiet indeed prior to the last local election and the ODT as usual was not keen to remind voters of councillors who supported the stadium. Cr Noone, looking at you! Same with local business geniuses.

If you look at the various entities that were all completely up to their collective eyeballs round the time that the stadium was being proposed it is hard to find one that didn’t have Stuart McLauchlan connected with it in one form or another. For him to say he had no connection with the stadium, or influence round those that were pushing it, is astounding.

I did not have sex with that cigar.
I find as I get older it’s harder to keep the steaming heaps of bullshit apart.

  6. You do not have sex and smoke at the same time. Unless it’s very very quick.

  7. Robert

Surprised they even published a letter criticising Stuart McLauchlan, since his mates own the ODT…

  8. Peter

Mmm, I thought so too, but they probably thought Stuart’s ‘defence’ was superb!

  9. Rob Hamlin

That’s true. It’s not often that Mc.P. gives a private citizen an immediate right of reply to a hard copy published letter or headline.
