What a great image and a great caption. Says it all really. Just needs a few people jumping out of it – the list forms here!
Russell please don’t hesitate to jump. You’ll save a great many people from death by boredom reading your posts.
Full of wit, or something similar sounding
Anonymous. You mustn’t be THAT bored with Russell’s posts for you to keep reading them.
Thinking about it a bit more “anonymous”, I wonder if you could at least separate yourself from some of the more constructive contributors using that particular nom de plume. Maybe, “Plonker anonymous” or “Waste of Space anonymous”, or “Manure Anonymous” – or maybe even better you could actually be really brave and use your own name? Bet you don’t.

24.5.11 ODT Online: Have they not noticed? (comment)
Yes you’re right, I apologise – I was trying for pithyness – I do however claim my description of it as a “Dead Zepplin”, which didn’t make it into the ODT, as my own ….
Mike, it was a pleasure – the more who say it… LOL
Oh the Humanity.
On the positive side, it can now be affectionately referred to around the country as “The Blimp”. Beats the Cake Tin. Possibly.
Looking at the photo of the lighting test (and it might be a bad photo) I still wonder if people sitting higher up in the higher of the two stands are not going to be staring into the pitch lighting rigs mounted directly above the lower stand. Which will be at about eye level. I appreciate that the lights will be angled downwards slightly, but I could see myself being bloody annoyed having something shining directly in front of me the whole time. Maybe someone has been there during the testing and can shed a little more “light” on the subject.
The webcam is at the top of the North stand, angled down to see pitch at the East stand side i.e. angle of what you see on the camera is very close to what you would see from sitting in the stand. It wasn’t “blinded” by the sports lighting during the test. In fact, the values from the camera were as if it were operating in daylight.
I’m revisiting the pitch sunlight cover – it’s apparent in the last few days how much of the north side of the pitch is left shaded – once we get to end of month I will redo the timelapse.
Thanks, Stu. I would expect that the months April through September would result in considerably reduced direct pitch sunlight. The modelling exercise we did here a while back seemed to suggest that. I would presume that, during those months, the mobile lighting rigs would make up for the shortfall.
I’ve seen a similar picture before, with the stadium lamps operating. I’m sure it’s not blinding, just annoying. Having a row of lights directly in front of you the whole time. Possibly another reason why they decided to relocate the media box.
Phil; don’t forget Malcolm’s beaming radiance. It alone will probably be sufficient.
