Final Eden Park resource consents passed

Final resource consents for upgrades at Eden Park for the 2011 Rugby World Cup have been passed. Work on the $240 million redevelopment began in August last year. The final two consents cover the construction for the last part of the stadium, a concourse linking the different stands, and landscaping of the park and the temporary facilities for the world cup.

    Eden Park progress

    Eden Park is on track for the Rugby World Cup in 2011. The redevelopment has passed its final resource consent hurdle without appeal.

    Eden Park Redevelopment Board chief executive Adam Feeley says the last consents cover the construction of a new Western Concourse connecting the grandstand and extras like temporary seating during the World Cup.

    No further hurdles for Eden Park

    Redevelopment plans for Eden Park look set to proceed without any legal hurdles.

    Rugby World Cup Minister Murray McCully has announced the final resource consent applications for the project have been put in place without being subject to any Environment Court challenges. It means the project can now proceed on schedule without the risk of court action delaying the multi-million dollar project.
